Project Brief

About the Project:

Mediplus Hospital in Pokhara, Nepal, trusted MedGenz India Pvt. Ltd. to build a modular operation theatre for their hospital. It was a cross-border project, designed, manufactured and delivered from India and installed on site in Pokhara.

The OT is the most sensitive room in any hospital. It needs surfaces that are easy to clean, air that stays controlled and a layout that lets the surgical team work without distractions. For a hospital in Pokhara, where specialist surgical care is in steady demand from the city and the surrounding hills, getting the OT right from the start matters a great deal.

If you are looking for a modular OT supplier in Nepal, or a hospital infrastructure company that can handle a project across the border, this case study shows how we approached it.

What the Hospital Needed:

The Mediplus Hospital team wanted to:

  • Set up a modular OT in Pokhara that is hygienic, well organized and easy to maintain.
  • Reduce dust-collecting joints and rough surfaces that are hard to clean.
  • Have one team handle design, supply and installation, so there is a single point of contact.
  • Get the OT installed on schedule, despite the distance between our base and the site.

Scope of Work:

Modular Operation Theatre

We built the OT using pre-engineered panels that fit together cleanly, leaving very few gaps where dust and germs can collect. The work covered:

  • Smooth wall and ceiling panels with coved corners
  • Chemical-resistant, antistatic flooring
  • Sealed OT door
  • Filtered air supply and air-conditioning arrangements, as specified
  • OT light, control panel, pass box and scrub station, as specified

Air cleanliness in controlled rooms is classified under ISO 14644-1. The air-handling arrangements in the OT were planned as per the hospital’s specification and the agreed scope. Hospitals planning a new theatre can also preview their layout through our 3D OT studio.

All materials, specifications and responsibilities follow the project agreement.

How We Worked:

We started with the hospital’s actual needs. Before drawing anything, we spoke with the Mediplus team about the surgeries they plan to perform, how staff will move through the OT and where the room sits in the building.

We planned the OT in detail. Panel layout, door positions, lights and utility points were fixed on paper first, so there were few surprises during installation.

We prepared and dispatched carefully. Because the project crossed the border, materials were packed and sent with extra care, so panels and fittings reached Pokhara in good condition.

We installed on site. Our team fitted the panels, flooring and fittings with close attention to joints and finishes, because these decide how easy the OT will be to clean every day.

We checked and handed over. The OT was checked for function and readiness, and the hospital team was walked through how everything works.

Challenges We Kept in Mind:

Moving panels and equipment from India to Pokhara takes more planning than a local job. Transport time, border movement and the hilly roads around Pokhara can all affect the schedule. A small delay in dispatch can hold up the whole installation.

We handled this by planning the delivery and installation sequence in advance, and by using prefabricated modular panels. Since the panels are made and checked in our facility, much of the work is done before they travel, which cuts down on messy and unpredictable on-site construction.

What the Hospital Gets

  • A cleaner surgical environment: Smooth, sealed surfaces that are quick to wipe down between surgeries.
  • A well-organized OT: A layout planned around how the surgical team actually works.
  • One team, clear responsibility: Design, supply and installation under a single agency.
  • Faster, tidier installation: Prefabricated panels mean less dust and disruption on site.
  • Support after handover: Hospitals can also look at our AMC/CMC services to keep the OT in good working condition.

Actual outcomes depend on the scope of work, site conditions and the terms of the project agreement.
